Have you ever worked so hard to make something happen, only to feel like you were moving against the current the entire time? Like no matter what you did, nothing flowed with ease, and everything felt heavier than it should?

If you’ve been there, you’re not alone. In this blog post, I want to unpack the truth about resistance, alignment, and what it really means when something feels impossible. You’ll learn how to recognize when you’re out of alignment and how to shift back into a place that feels easier, lighter, and more fulfilling.

What Resistance Really Tells Us

Sometimes, when we push and push for something, it starts to feel like two magnets repelling each other. That’s exactly how my husband and I felt when we tried to buy a brand-new truck. On paper, everything should’ve worked. We had great credit and a clear budget, but every step in the process was met with roadblocks. Endless paperwork, delays, and stress. Still, we forced it to happen.

And when we finally got the truck? Everything about it felt off. Unexpected expenses, weird accidents, and an unshakable sense of regret. It was as if the truck had come with bad energy. Looking back now, I realize that it was never meant for us—it was out of alignment.

Alignment vs. Resistance: What’s the Difference?

Let’s be real: nothing in life worth doing is completely effortless. But there’s a big difference between healthy effort and soul-sucking resistance.

  • Alignment feels like flow. It may take work, but it’s the kind that energizes you.
  • Resistance feels like dragging a broken shopping cart through the store—loud, clunky, and draining.

It’s the same with business, relationships, or personal goals. If every step feels like a struggle, it might be time to pause and reevaluate.

Three Signs You’re Out of Alignment

1. You Feel Constantly Drained
If even thinking about the task or project zaps your energy, it may not be for you. I experienced this with an online business offer I once created. While I believed in the idea, I dreaded working on it. It took me 3 whole years to complete—because every part of it felt heavy and forced. When something excites you, it won’t feel like a burden to create.

2. You Keep Second-Guessing Yourself
You find yourself asking everyone for advice, journaling the same doubts on repeat, and flip-flopping on your decisions. When you’re aligned, there’s a quiet sense of peace—even when things are uncertain. If you’re spinning in circles, your inner voice might be telling you it’s not the right fit.

3. It Steals Your Joy
Something that once lit you up now leaves you uninspired. You may be making progress, but if it doesn’t feel fulfilling, it’s a sign to pivot. I experienced this firsthand with my first course. It sold, but I dreaded recording the content. The resistance showed up in my energy—and in my results.

Questions to Reconnect With Your Alignment

If you’re reading this and thinking, “This might be me,” take a breath. You don’t have to keep pushing through. Start by asking yourself these questions:

1. Is this aligned with the season of life I’m in?
Life shifts. What worked in a previous season might not work now. Your capacity and priorities change. Give yourself permission to adapt accordingly.

2. Am I doing this because I want it, or because I think I should want it?
If the word “should” is driving your actions, take a step back. True alignment doesn’t come from obligation—it comes from desire.

3. What would feel lighter, truer, or more energizing right now?
Let your answer lead you. It might not be the shiny big goal you envisioned, but it could still lead you to a path that feels more aligned—and brings even better results.

You’re Not Quitting—You’re Choosing Better

Letting go of something that’s not working isn’t failure. It’s clarity. It’s courage. And it’s often the first step toward building something that does work.

Think of it like this: You can plant the best seeds in the world, but if you’re trying to grow them in concrete, nothing will bloom. But when you find the right soil—where your gifts, energy, and vision are fully supported—your growth will be unstoppable.

So if something feels impossible, take that as a nudge. It might not be for you… or it might not be right now. Give yourself permission to pivot. To choose what feels peaceful. To walk toward what feels like ease—not because it’s lazy, but because it’s aligned.
