Let’s face it, being a mom is an incredible journey, but it can also be extremely hard sometimes—especially when all the other dynamics come into play, like housework, school and homework, extracurricular activities (ugh, y’all… hockey is brutal sometimes), and appointments… not to mention trying to find time between ALL of that to work and make some money!

Going into a place of work physically can really make things feel even crazier, because with all the kids’ activities and schoolwork that have to be included daily, it can take up a lot of your time. I often ask myself, “How do I even have time to work with all these responsibilities?” I mean, how is there even time to clean your house? Eventually, the thought of giving up the orderliness of your home will cross your mind.

When I discovered that there was a way to make an income through online course creation, it gave me hope for having more time and space—not just for my family, but also for other responsibilities in my life. And let’s be honest, we all need that bit of calm in the storm, right?

Starting with course creation was a little nerve-racking for me at first—I’m not going to lie. When we’re in the everyday dynamics of life, it’s easy to get stuck in habits we’ve created—which often doesn’t include trying new things. With online course creation, I’ve been able to tap into my creativity more, and the deeper I dive, the more ideas I generate for my business. Sometimes stepping into new territories allows us to discover our creative sides.

With course creation, I’m making logos, creating graphics, designing websites, putting together my course in unique ways, and so much more that I never thought I’d be doing. And the best part? There’s no one “right” way to create a course—you can build a business that reflects who you truly are!

2. You can do it with your kids at home

This is my favorite perk. I can be present with my kids and work on my business at the same time. Going into the salon to work with my kids was a nightmare, honestly. I love my kids, but they can be a HUGE distraction. The very last time I brought them to work with me, I swore I’d never do it again. I literally left my client in the chair about 20 times to break up fights! The HORROR! I’m sure the person in my chair thought I was so unprofessional, but hey, I did what I had to do to create some sort of income.

My job as a hairstylist gave me a little more flexibility than my spouse’s job, but that left me as the primary caregiver to my kiddos (which I love!), and it came with a price—haha. From that day forward, I told myself I was going to work harder on my first course so that I could have more time and space for my children because taking them to work wasn’t ideal for me. I felt like I had to put them in front of an iPad every time to keep them distracted. It just wasn’t fair at all. Course creation allows me to work around my kids. I can stop and start when needed. It’s just SO much more doable as a mom!

3. You can expand your knowledge and learn something entirely new

Okay, let’s face it… as we get older, it’s harder to go back to school. At a certain point, it just seems easy to get settled in what we’ve got going on, and eventually, it leaves us in a state where we’re content to just know what we know… does that make sense? Especially when we’ve been stuck in a career for many years.

I often thought that I should go back to school to try a different career, but the thought was daunting. With course creation, I can do it from the comfort of my own home, at my own pace—NO ONE giving me a deadline. And once I got into the hang of things, I actually enjoyed learning again.

I discovered that I was only going to stay stuck where I was if I… Well… stayed stuck where I was. Jumping into something new has made me realize that HEY, I can do this. I can still learn new things and be successful. So just by reaching out and taking a leap of faith into a new career path, I’ve discovered that learning new things and expanding my knowledge has helped me shift into a success mindset. And guess what? You can too!

Course creation can give you the freedom you desire as a mom. It’s easy to get into the groove of this thing we call “life.” “It’s just the way life is” is what we often tell ourselves. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. We’re talking about financial freedom… freedom in your everyday life to make time for the things that really matter—your children, your family, your spouse!

Imagine being able to focus more on your family while your business works for you in the background. Picture yourself out camping and roasting s’mores with your kids, knowing your course is still generating income. Yes, it’s work at first… but in the long run, it’s WELL WORTH IT!

5. You can change someone’s entire life!

Take this into consideration: I actually thought that everyone knew how to hard-boil eggs. BOY WAS I WRONG! There are people who don’t know how to do this, and there are MANY more things that people just don’t know. Not saying that hard-boiling eggs would be life-changing—haha—but really, you can change anyone’s life with your knowledge, even if it’s very simple and obvious to you.
