Hey there! If you’re new to my blog and don’t know me… WELCOME! I’m glad you’re here!
My name is Heather, and I’m here to inspire your journey as a mother, all while becoming successful and more abundant in your life through your very own online business!
I know what it’s like to not know who you’re working with, so I thought it would be awesome if I shared some things about me and my life that you might not know. So here it goes!
1. I am happily married to my dream husband.
Yes, I said it. Although the roads leading here were beautiful, tough, and life-changing… we made it. Through thick and thin, my husband and I have been together since I was 15! Isn’t that nuts? I’m 34 this year – so I’ve technically spent over half my life with this man! So yes, you guessed it, we are definitely high school sweethearts!
2. I have two beautiful children.
I remember when I was a young girl, I always said I would never have kids—I thought they were annoying (not realizing that I was actually one of those kids – haha!). As I got older and settled with my husband, the desire for children became strong, and now I am happy to say that I don’t have any regrets (unless they start fighting—joking of course…). Becoming a mother has changed me and taught me so many life lessons.
3. I value raising my own children.
This is not to say that I look down upon those who put their children in daycares or have babysitters. This is just who I am. Having children, to me, meant raising them how I want them to be raised—which meant sacrificing my time at work. And obviously, this can be financially draining. I have always found time to work around my husband’s schedule and family, making sure that they were with family if they were not with me. But if you’re like me and like most moms, it’s extremely hard to take a break from the kids. Like… everything falls on you, am I right? There were days I even brought the kids to work, just to make a little bit of income, but the mom guilt was real. I knew I needed to have a job where I could back my values of raising my own kids without dealing with a financial burden.
4. I am an introvert.
And not only that… my RBF is real, you guys. Most people actually don’t think I am that friendly until they actually get to know me. That’s why I always say don’t judge a person by their cover—haha! But it’s true. I’ve struggled my whole life with the fact that people were always judging me because of how my face looked. In a lot of cases, it has caused some depression because I always wondered how I could “fix my face.” But, as I got older, and especially starting an online business, I have learned to love and accept myself—because ANYONE can create a business and still be their true selves.
5. I am not big on social media.
If you have ever tried to look me up on social media, you’ve probably noticed that I am not all over the place with it, and that I don’t post a lot of content. I’ve always been this way. Although I started an online business and put in all efforts, I still am not big on posting—no matter how hard I’ve tried. You’ll actually probably find more about me in this blog, to be honest. And I feel that that’s okay. Social media isn’t for everyone, and I believe I can run a business any way that I choose. That’s why I like the idea of a blog—it’s my own. Social media is for everyone, but I’m not exactly everyone. As long as y’all love me for who I am, that’s all that matters.
6. I really enjoy the outdoors!
I love going out fishing, hunting, and camping with my family! In fact, it’s literally what I look forward to after a looooooong winter in Alaska! I really love the fact that my children also enjoy the outdoors… we have really instilled in them that there is more to life than just iPads and video games! Besides, that’s how it should be, right? When they are able to go out fishing, hunting, or camping, they are literally living their best life, and it really shows!
7. We love HOCKEY!
When I met my husband, he was deep into hockey. In fact, when I first met him, he crutched up to me with a broken leg – an injury that came from the beloved sport! But anyways, I LOVED watching him through the high school years. And now… *drum roll*… my children both play! My oldest has taken to goalie—which no one in my husband’s family has ever been, so that’s been an amazing journey for him. I can’t see why a lot of hockey parents don’t want their kids being goalies (weeellll, I mean, it is more expensive…)! I say they’re missing out on a new kind of hockey adventure! My youngest loves skating around and shooting pucks. As of now, he is only 6 and is thriving in it—I think the skill runs through his veins. He reminds me of my husband. It’s like a mini version of him! We love watching the Golden Knights and Dallas Stars as of right now, but we’ll see where that journey goes!!
8. I still value in-person work!
Even though I am into my online business, I still love working. I’ve always been somewhat of a workaholic, and it’s really been hard to always sit still for me. Even though I was hairdressing for half my life and living in burnout, I still always managed to find a way to get to work. But as that chapter comes to a close, I still want to do things that revolve around my children’s school schedule, whether it be working there or volunteering. It doesn’t matter. I just want to be involved and on the move still, while providing a service online as a way of passive income for me and my family.
9. I have not always had the positive mindset I portray today.
Yes, life has thrown me many curveballs. But I decided it was important to shift my mindset and see the beauty in everything in my life. What has helped me was always encouraging and talking to myself in a positive manner. When we talk to ourselves negatively, it’s really easy to sink deeper into those feelings. I also recommend listening to podcasts or reading books on positive mindset to help inspire you! It has tremendously helped me.
10. I’ve been wanting to start an online business for as long as I remember but was always scared!
Yes, I was a scaredy cat! And I was also AFRAID of trying something new—afraid of failure. I’ve relied so heavily on my job as a hairdresser that I didn’t let myself see any other way. But I decided—hey, I only have this one life, and I need to make the best of the time I have here on earth! And my children are young only ONCE. I need to cherish these years and remember them well. The busyness of life can distract us SO much, and you’ll look up one day, and your kids will be 30 years old with a beard... I want to watch that beard grow, dang it! Don’t take these precious moments for granted.
So there you have it, a little about me and my personal life!
