I want to talk about something I think a lot of us really struggle with—or worse, we don’t even realize we’re doing it.

If I could sit across from you right now, coffee in hand, kids off somewhere making a mess, and you’re in the middle of working on your business, I’d probably look you in the eye and say this:

It’s not about the strategy.
It’s not about having the perfect plan, the perfect brand, or even the perfect offer.

The thing that makes or breaks this whole journey is your belief
Belief in yourself.
Belief that this can work.
Belief that you’re capable—even when you feel unsure.

And if you’re already nodding along, or maybe even tearing up a little because you’re fed up with things not working out… then this is for you.

Let me start here:
Have you ever found yourself on a late-night Google rabbit hole, typing things like,
“How to grow your business fast,”
“Best platform for course creators,”
“How to find your niche”?
Same. I’ve been there too.

We’re taught to believe that if we just get the steps right, if we follow the blueprint all the gurus give us, then we’ll be successful—just like them.

And don’t get me wrong—strategy is important.
If you don’t have that stuff lined up, yeah… there’s no real business. Right?

But here’s what I’ve learned from building my own business from scratch while raising kids, doing school drop-offs, wiping noses (because let’s be real—kids are constantly sick), and just trying to find a second to breathe between it all:

Strategy without belief
Belief that it will work, belief that it will pay off—is where we fall short.

I remember a time when I had all the information:
The courses.
The checklists.
The templates.

But nothing was moving.

And I believe that’s because, underneath all the action, there was this little quiet voice whispering:
“Who are you to do this?”
“What if no one buys it?”
“You’re probably not cut out for this.”

Have you ever heard those voices?

That, my friend, is imposter syndrome.

Actually, I like to give him a name:
Pesky Mr. Impostor.

The problem isn’t that those thoughts come up—we all have them.
The problem is that we start believing them.

Let’s just say it like it is:
Mr. Impostor is a real punk.
He doesn’t knock. He just shows up, plops down on your couch, grabs your snacks, and starts talking trash.

Even when you try to ignore him, you still hear him whispering things like:
“You’re not experienced enough.”
“What if you fail?”
“You should wait until you’re more ready.”
“You don’t know how to teach.”
“People will think you’re boring.”
“They’re going to make fun of you.”

Sound familiar?

Because I still hear those voices sometimes, too.

But here’s what I had to learn—and what I want to pass on to you:
Those thoughts aren’t what hold you back.
Believing them is.

You can have the best funnel in the world.
The cutest Canva templates.
The most beautiful course layout.
Like, magnetic stuff—it’s gorgeous.

But if, the whole time, your mind is whispering, “I’m not cut out for this,”
It’s going to show.
People can feel that.
They can sense it.

Belief is your fuel.
Without it, you stall.
You get stuck.
Thank you very much, Mr. Impostor.

And here’s the tricky part—it’s not always obvious that mindset is the issue.
You look around at everything you’ve done—
The website’s up.
The offers are out there.
You’ve followed what the gurus told you to do.
But something still isn’t clicking.

And that “something” might not be what you did or didn’t do—
It might be what you believe (or don’t believe) about yourself.

Mindset is the foundation.

Think of it like building a house.
You can pick the prettiest paint color, buy the nicest furniture, deck out your kitchen…
But if the foundation is cracked, it’s only a matter of time before the whole thing starts to wobble.

“It’s fine! Everything’s fine!”
(Meanwhile, your house is sliding into the river…)
You’re basically living on a houseboat.
Are we on Noah’s Ark? Possibly.

Your business is no different.

Belief is the foundation.
We need a solid one—whether you picture that as stone or roots in the ground.

I like the plant analogy better, because businesses grow, right?

So I say:
Plant your roots.
Get grounded.
Because that quiet strength, that belief—it’s what keeps you going when things flop.
It reminds you that it’s worth it.
That you’re worth it.

When that belief lives inside of you—that it’s possible, that you’re capable—you push through the hard stuff.
You show up for your dream.
And that’s when you start seeing the fruit.

Listen, nobody gets it right all the time.
Mr. Impostor is sneaky.
But when you practice believing in yourself—even just a little more each day—you start to build that confidence muscle.

Eventually, you kick him off the couch.
He’s not stealing your snacks anymore.
The most he can do is send you a postcard.
And you? You can rip it up and toss it.

He’s not your audience, anyway.

Belief is a skill.
It can be strengthened—like a muscle.
The more you work it, the stronger it gets.
The more you speak life over yourself, the more you’ll see life show up around you.

Have you ever gone through something just because you wanted it so badly and truly believed you could have it?
And then—it happened?

That happened to me in high school.
I met my now-husband when I was 15.

And I know this might sound weird, but when I met him, I had this deep feeling that he was someone special.
It wasn’t creepy—I’d never felt that way about anyone else.
But I just believed we’d be together for a long time.

And honestly? That belief made everything feel kind of effortless.

Yes, we had our challenges, but I didn’t have to force anything.
I just believed—and things naturally unfolded.

It’s the same in business—or in anything really.
If you want it, and you believe it, you’ll find a way.
And eventually, something beautiful will happen.

That doesn’t mean Mr. Impostor disappears forever, but it does get easier to shut him down.

I stopped looking for proof that I wasn’t good enough.
I started looking for proof that I was growing.

And honestly—that’s what matters most.

So here are a few ways to start building your belief muscles today:

  1. Take a deep breath and close your eyes.
Start noticing your thoughts, and gently challenge the ones that tear you down.
  2. Shift your language.
Instead of saying “I don’t have time,” ask,
👉 “How can I make this work with the time I do have?”
Instead of “I don’t know enough,” try,
👉 “How can I show people what I do know?”
You don’t need to know everything to help someone.
  3. Speak life into your dreams.
Affirmations might feel cheesy, but hear me out:
If you don’t believe in you, why would anyone else?

Write down what you believe about yourself and your business—
The good stuff.
Read it.
Say it out loud.
Every single day.

Or even better—record yourself and listen back.
Let it sink in. Rewire your brain.
It works.

  1. Surround yourself with people who get it.
The ones who don’t think you’re crazy for dreaming big.
    Who support you.
    Who remind you it’s possible.

And as for the ones who constantly doubt you or tear you down?
It’s okay to lovingly take a step back.

So today, stop looking for proof that you’re not enough.
Start collecting evidence that you are growing.

Because honestly?
That’s what matters most.

You’ve got this.
I believe in you.
Now it’s time for you to believe in you too.
